Chief Financial Officer

Heartland Contracting, LLC is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the company's financial strategy, accounting operations, financial reporting, cash management, budgeting, risk management, and long-term financial planning.

The CFO will serve as a key member of the leadership team and partner closely with ownership and operations to ensure financial discipline, profitability, sustainable growth, and effective financial controls. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in construction finance, including job costing, project financial analysis, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, cash-flow management, bonding, subcontractor/vendor relationships, and construction accounting.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute the company's overall financial strategy in partnership with ownership.

Lead accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash-management functions.

Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and ensure timely and accurate reporting.

Establish and monitor budgets, forecasts, financial KPIs, and performance metrics.

Provide ownership and project leadership with financial analysis and recommendations for decision-making.

Oversee construction job costing and project profitability, including WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion accounting, cost-to-complete analysis, and variance analysis.

Monitor project cash flow, accounts receivable, accounts payable, retainage, change orders, and collections.

Establish strong financial controls and accounting procedures appropriate for a growing construction company.

Manage banking relationships, lines of credit, treasury activities, and working capital.

Coordinate with insurance providers, bonding companies, CPAs, auditors, and other financial professionals.

Oversee tax planning, compliance, and preparation in coordination with external advisors.
