A growing Virginia-based federal contractor is looking for the accounting professional who can own the function today and help shape it for tomorrow. You will begin in a temp-to-permanent arrangement, working directly with the Vice President of Operations and company owners while both sides evaluate long-term fit. The role offers broad visibility, meaningful autonomy, and the opportunity to build reliable processes as the business grows.

The opportunity

Serve as the company’s primary accounting professional and principal Costpoint 8.2 accounting user.

Personally manage the full accounting cycle, AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations, journal entries, monthly close, and financial reporting.

Own CPFF, T&M, and FFP billing, WAWF or customer portals, contract funding, burn-rate monitoring, unbilled costs, and indirect-rate analysis.

Maintain budgets, projections, cash-flow reporting, and useful financial information for leadership decisions, proposals, banking, tax, and insurance needs.

Partner with operations, ownership, HR, program teams, outside accountants, customers, subcontractors, and the Costpoint support provider.

Improve internal controls, workflows, policies, calendars, checklists, and documentation, then help train or supervise future accounting support as the company expands.

What you need

Recent, direct, hands-on Deltek Costpoint 8.2 experience. Candidates without this background cannot be considered.

At least seven years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on government-contract accounting and full-cycle ownership.

Working knowledge of FAR cost principles, indirect rates, government-contract billing, and CPFF, T&M, and FFP contracts.

Experience with Costpoint accounting, payroll, project setup, billing configurations, reporting, and period-end processing.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, plus strong Excel and communication skills.

Helpful experience

Costpoint implementation or migration; WAWF; subcontractor accounting; provisional billing rates; incurred-cost submissions; audit support; multistate payroll; or a CPA, CMA, MBA, or related credential.

Compensation and path

The initial project rate starts at $55 per hour, with additional consideration based on experience. The permanent salary begins at $120,000 per year, also depending on experience. The role is remote and may convert to permanent employment after the initial evaluation period.
