Oracle Database Administrator

Responsibilities

• Create, configure, administer, and maintain Oracle databases across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Support Oracle Grid infrastructure and associated database availability and maintenance activities.
• Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) backup and recovery processes; validate restores and support recovery exercises.
• Monitor database health, storage utilization, performance, and capacity; investigate alerts and address emerging operational issues.
• Diagnose database errors, connectivity issues, locking, resource constraints, and application-related database problems.
• Develop and maintain SQL and PL/SQL scripts supporting database administration, troubleshooting, and application requirements.
• Analyze database and query performance and implement documented tuning improvements.
• Install and patch database software, perform server-related maintenance, and implement configuration changes through approved change-management procedures.
• Maintain high-availability capabilities and support failover testing and disaster recovery procedures.
• Implement and maintain database access controls, encryption, and auditing consistent with customer requirements.
• Track incidents, service requests, and Requests for Changes in ServiceNow, documenting work through resolution and meeting applicable service-level targets.
• Use enterprise monitoring tools, including Idera and SolarWinds as applicable, to support health monitoring and capacity planning.
• Assist users and developers with database creation, configuration, and application integrations.
• Collaborate on support for the broader database environment, including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, and Microsoft Access.
• Maintain configuration documentation, recovery procedures, and operational runbooks; submit weekly activity and accomplishment reports.

Required Qualifications

• At least four years of hands-on database administration experience, with substantial Oracle Database experience; target experience range is 4–8 years.
• Demonstrated ability to create, configure, and maintain standalone Oracle databases.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle RMAN backup, restore, and recovery operations.
• Experience supporting Oracle Grid infrastructure and Oracle high-availability environments.
• Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL and practical experience troubleshooting database and application integration issues.
• Experience with database monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, software installation, and patching.
• Practical experience executing disaster recovery procedures and validating database recoverability.
• Experience implementing database security controls and controlled production changes.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate across technical teams, and communicate clearly with users and management.
• Ability to comply with customer remote-access, information-security, and equipment-use requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant Oracle Database administration certifications.
• Experience supporting Oracle databases in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or other cloud environments.
• Experience using ServiceNow, Idera, and SolarWinds.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, SQL clustering, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, or Microsoft Access.
• Experience automating database provisioning and maintenance through scripting or infrastructure as code.
• Experience supporting federal agencies or similarly controlled enterprise environments.

Pay: $75.00 - $85.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
