Gas Turbine Controls Software Engineer Greater Atlanta Area | Hybrid | 12-Month Contract-to-Hire

We’re hiring a Gas Turbine Controls Software Engineer for a leading global energy organization in the Greater Atlanta area. This is a hands-on engineering position focused on developing, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting control software for industrial gas turbine systems.

The role follows a hybrid schedule with three days onsite each week. Additional onsite attendance may occasionally be required for design reviews and factory acceptance testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify gas turbine control logic and operator HMI screens
• Translate SAMA diagrams, P&IDs, and process narratives into DCS control logic
• Implement turbine governor controls, startup sequences, permissives, interlocks, trips, and protection logic
• Support turbine auxiliary systems, including lube oil, control oil, turning gear, and hydraulic valve positioning
• Configure and test turbine instrumentation, including servo coils, LVDTs, vibration-monitoring systems, and supervisory instruments
• Perform closed-loop simulation, software validation, and factory acceptance testing
• Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and onsite turbine startup
• Participate in customer design reviews and provide technical support to project and field teams

Required experience

• Direct experience with gas turbine control systems
• Hands-on DCS or PLC control-logic development
• Knowledge of gas turbine governors, startup sequences, auxiliary systems, trips, and overspeed protection
• HMI development and industrial communication protocols such as Modbus or OPC
• Experience with FAT, simulation, commissioning, or turbine startup
• Strong understanding of PID control and industrial automation
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline

Experience with GE Mark V/VI/VIe, Siemens SPPA-T3000, PCS 7, Woodward, ABB, Emerson, or similar turbine-control platforms is highly relevant.
