POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced, strong leader, and detail-oriented Controller to oversee and manage the company’s financial operations. The Controller will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, preparing financial statements, managing accounting functions, and supporting strategic financial decision-making. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the company's financial health, compliance, and operational efficiency and is seen as the right hand of the CFO.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Reporting

o Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

o Ensure financial reports are accurate, timely, and compliant with GAAP and company policies.

o Present financial performance and forecasts to senior leadership, including variances, key performance indicators, and financial trends.

Budgeting and Forecasting

o Support the preparation of the annual budget and collaborate with department heads to align financial goals with business objectives.

o Manage the forecasting process and provide monthly financial updates and analysis to support decision-making.

Accounting Operations

o Supervise day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.

o Ensure the timely and accurate reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies.

o Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with deadlines.

Payroll Processing and 401(K) Administration

o Ensure payroll tasks and submissions are completed in a timely manner according to the designated payroll schedule.

o Partner with team managers and HR to resolve payroll-related discrepancies when they arise.

o Partner with HR to ensure payroll is in regular compliance with applicable laws such as tax deductions

o Manage payroll set-up changes as needed including new employment state taxes and annual benefits enrollment premiums

Internal Controls and Compliance

o Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.

o Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and accounting standards.

o Manage external audits and address audit findings or inquiries in collaboration with auditors.

Team Leadership & Accountability

o Set clear performance expectations, monitor team progress, and hold team members accountable for achieving goals and meeting deadlines.

o Provide regular feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and implement development plans for continuous improvement.

o Manage team dynamics, address interpersonal conflicts promptly and professionally, and foster a culture of trust, respect, and collaboration.

Training and Development

o Develop and implement structured onboarding and training programs to enhance team capabilities.

o Encourage knowledge-sharing and cross-training to build team flexibility and resilience.

Cash Management and Financial Analysis

o Oversee cash flow management, monitor working capital, and optimize liquidity.

o Provide financial analysis and insights to support business strategies, operational improvements, and long-term financial planning.

Tax Reporting and Compliance

o Ensure timely and accurate filing of taxes and compliance with all tax regulations.

o Stay up-to-date on tax law changes and communicate relevant impacts to the CFO and stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

o Act as a strategic partner to cross-functional teams (e.g., Sales, Operations, HR, and IT) to align financial goals with overall business objectives.

o Communicate financial insights effectively to non-financial stakeholders to drive informed decision-making and operational excellence.

Process Improvement

o Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and systems to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.

o Work with IT and other departments to implement new financial systems or upgrades.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

o Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred).

o 7+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

o Experience in manufacturing, strongly preferred.

o Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.

o Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.

o Experience with NetSuite is a major plus.

o Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

o Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

o Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

PREFERRED SKILLS

o Experience with financial modeling and forecasting.

o Experience managing or improving accounting systems and processes.

o Knowledge of regulatory requirements and tax laws relevant to the company’s industry.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Normal office working conditions, dress code is casual. Typical working hours of Monday through Friday (8am-5pm), and on occasion may need to work beyond the normal hours to meet project deadlines. Currently working a hybrid schedule of three days on-site, two days remote.
