Job Description

We are seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer to help build a broker-neutral risk-management and performance-analysis platform for active financial traders. The application will consolidate trading activity from multiple brokerage accounts, reconstruct complex options positions, analyze portfolio risk, and help users better understand their trading performance.

You will primarily work on the JavaScript and TypeScript portions of the platform, including the React frontend, Node.js services, broker-data imports, real-time application features, and integrations with Python-based analytics services.

This position is well suited to an engineer who enjoys building data-intensive applications, creating intuitive interfaces, and solving problems where accuracy and reliability matter.

What You’ll Do

* Develop responsive, accessible application features using React and TypeScript.

* Build and maintain backend APIs and services using Node.js.

* Create dashboards for portfolio performance, risk exposure, options positions, and trading activity.

* Implement interactive charts, data tables, filters, and scenario-analysis controls.

* Process and normalize trade data imported from brokerage APIs, CSV files, and account statements.

* Help reconstruct multi-leg options strategies, rolls, partial exits, assignments, exercises, and expirations.

* Integrate JavaScript services with Python-based analytics and quantitative-calculation services.

* Build real-time features using WebSockets or similar event-driven technologies.

* Design reliable background processes for trade imports, portfolio updates, and risk recalculations.

* Work with PostgreSQL to store and query users, accounts, transactions, positions, and audit history.

* Write automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.

* Investigate data discrepancies and improve the accuracy of financial calculations and reports.

* Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, estimation, and iterative product development.

* Collaborate with product, design, and quantitative specialists to translate trading concepts into clear user experiences.

* Help improve application security, observability, performance, and deployment practices.

Required Qualifications

* Approximately 3–5 years of professional software-development experience.

* Strong proficiency with modern JavaScript and TypeScript.

* Professional experience developing applications with React.

* Experience building APIs or backend services using Node.js and frameworks such as Express, Fastify, or NestJS.

* Working knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.

* Experience consuming REST APIs and processing structured data.

* Familiarity with asynchronous programming, background jobs, and event-driven application patterns.

* Experience writing automated tests with tools such as Jest, Vitest, Playwright, or Cypress.

* Understanding of authentication, authorization, API security, and secure handling of sensitive information.

* Experience using Git and participating in collaborative development workflows.

* Ability to investigate complex problems involving data from multiple systems.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience developing financial, investment, banking, accounting, or other data-sensitive applications.

* Familiarity with stocks, options, futures, or other financial instruments.

* Understanding of options strategies, including spreads, covered calls, cash-secured puts, and position rolls.

* Experience building financial charts, analytics dashboards, or data-visualization interfaces.

* Familiarity with WebSockets, streaming data, or real-time market-data applications.

* Experience integrating Node.js applications with Python services.

* Knowledge of Redis, message queues, or background-processing frameworks.

* Experience with AWS or another major cloud platform.

* Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code.

* Experience implementing audit logs, data reconciliation, idempotent processing, or financial controls.

* Familiarity with decimal or fixed-point handling for monetary calculations.

* Experience working in an early-stage product or startup environment.

Financial-trading experience is helpful but not required. Candidates should, however, be interested in learning the relevant concepts and comfortable working in a domain where small data errors can have meaningful consequences.
