Senior Systems Engineer

OVERVIEW

CAS is a prime support contractor to the FAA Runway Status Lights Systems (RWSL) program office. The RWSL system integrates airport lighting equipment with approach and surface surveillance systems to provide a visual signal to pilots and vehicle operators indicating that it is unsafe to enter/cross or begin takeoff on a runway. The system is fully automated based on inputs from surface and terminal surveillance systems. Airport surveillance sensor inputs are processed through light control logic that commands in-pavement lights to illuminate red when there is traffic on or approaching the runway.

We are searching for a motivated, responsible Senior Systems Engineer ready to join our team of technical professionals who interact directly with our customers to bring about modernization to government mission-critical systems and infrastructure.

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will lead engineering efforts for the RWSL Program. In this role, you will oversee the full systems engineering lifecycle—including design, development, testing, and implementation—to transition modernized components into the operational environment. You will serve as a primary technical liaison between the FAA customer and subcontractors, ensuring that all system enhancements meet rigorous safety and performance standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and facilitate formal technical reviews including System Requirements Reviews (SRR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), and Critical Design Reviews (CDR) with subcontractors.
• Manage the master Verification Requirements Traceability Matrix (VRTM), ensuring requirements are appropriately allocated across development projects.
• Oversee the physical installation, interconnection, networking, and configuration of new components into the RWSL architecture.
