Senior Software Engineer – ERP & MES

Position Summary

Stainless Structurals is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to help design and build a new ERP platform while supporting and enhancing our existing in-house manufacturing system.

Reporting to the Head of AI, this is a hands-on role combining business process discovery, requirements gathering, software development, database design, system integration, data migration and production support. The engineer will work directly with users across Sales, Accounting, Purchasing, Production and Quality to understand business needs and translate them into reliable software solutions.

This is a hybrid position based in the Greater Houston area. Local candidates are preferred. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead discovery and requirements gathering with business users, including understanding current workflows, identifying pain points and translating business needs into clear functional and technical requirements.
• Design and develop ERP functionality for quoting, orders, inventory, purchasing, shipping, invoicing, AR/AP and related workflows.
• Maintain and enhance our existing MES/manufacturing application supporting work orders, production planning, quality and material traceability.
• Migrate business data and functionality from existing systems into the new platform.
• Design and maintain database schemas, APIs and integrations between ERP, MES, reporting tools and other systems.
• Test, deploy and support business-critical applications in production.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related field.
• 3–5 years of professional software development experience, including experience with business-critical applications.
• Experience with ERP, order management, inventory management or other transactional business systems.
• Strong SQL and relational database design skills; MySQL experience preferred.
• Strong backend software development experience using C#/.NET, Java, Python or a comparable modern programming language, with working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML and CSS.
• Experience with APIs, system integrations and data exchange between applications.
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle, from discovery and requirements gathering through deployment and support.
• Strong understanding of software and database architecture.
• Proficiency with Git.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with non-technical users.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with MES or other manufacturing systems.
• Experience with data migration from legacy systems.
• Manufacturing or industrial experience.
• Experience as a lead or principal developer for a business-critical internal application.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Codex or similar.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
