Senior SCADA / Software Engineer
Pay
$65.00–$75.00 per hour Schedule: Full-Time | 40–60 hours per week Travel: Approximately 25% Work Location: 75% Remote / 25% On-Site Project Support
Position Overview
Archon Systems Integration is seeking a Senior SCADA / Software Engineer to support industrial automation and data integration projects.
This position requires advanced experience with Ignition, SQL, Python, and industrial data communications. The engineer will provide both remote technical support and on-site project support during construction and commissioning activities.
The role is approximately 75% remote and 25% travel. On-site support will typically consist of approximately three days per project during construction and commissioning to establish and verify data communications between vendor systems and the client's Ignition infrastructure.
Once communications are established, the engineer will perform QA/QC testing to verify data integrity and functionality. Ongoing responsibilities will include SQL support, troubleshooting Ignition applications, and diagnosing SFC logic and data-related issues.
Key Responsibilities
· Configure and troubleshoot Ignition SCADA applications and infrastructure.
· Develop, troubleshoot, and support Ignition Gateways, SQL databases, queries, and data integrations.
· Develop and troubleshoot Python scripting within Ignition and related applications.
· Configure and troubleshoot MQTT communications between vendor systems and client Ignition servers.
· Coordinate with vendors, client personnel, controls engineers, and other technical teams to establish reliable data communications.
· Perform QA/QC testing of tags, data points, communications, and system functionality.
· Verify data mapping and data integrity between vendor systems and client applications.
· Troubleshoot Ignition SFC logic, scripts, database interactions, and application issues.
· Diagnose communication and data-flow issues across multiple systems.
· Provide ongoing remote SQL, Ignition, and application support after commissioning.
· Document configuration changes, testing results, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
· Provide senior-level technical support and independently drive issues through resolution.
Required Qualifications
· Senior-level experience with Inductive Automation Ignition.
· Advanced knowledge of SQL, including query development and troubleshooting.
· Strong Python scripting experience.
· Experience configuring and troubleshooting MQTT communications.
· Experience troubleshooting industrial SCADA and data integration systems.
· Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across SCADA applications, databases, communications, and vendor systems.
· Experience performing structured system testing and QA/QC.
· Strong documentation and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
· Ability to travel approximately 25%.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with Ignition SFC.
· Ignition Gold Certification.
· Experience with Ignition Perspective and/or Vision, as well as Gateway development.
· Experience with industrial automation, PLC, or controls systems.
· Experience with MQTT modules and industrial MQTT architectures.
· Experience integrating multiple vendor systems into centralized SCADA platforms.
· Experience supporting industrial construction and commissioning projects.
· Experience working in oil & gas, midstream, manufacturing, or other industrial environments.
Schedule & Travel
This is a full-time position with a combination of remote and on-site work.
Remote Weeks
· Approximately 40–50 hours per week
· Work performed remotely supporting active projects and client systems
Travel / Commissioning Weeks
· Approximately 50–60 hours per week
· Travel to client facilities for construction, integration, testing, and commissioning support
· Approximately 25% overall travel expected
Candidates must be comfortable working extended hours during commissioning and critical project activities.
Compensation
$65.00–$75.00 per hour, depending on experience and technical qualifications.
Overtime opportunities may be available based on project requirements.

What We're Looking For
This position is intended for an experienced engineer who can take ownership of complex technical problems without requiring extensive direction. The ideal candidate is comfortable moving between Ignition, SQL, Python, MQTT, and industrial control systems to determine where an issue originates and drive it through resolution.
The successful candidate should be equally comfortable working independently from home and traveling to a client facility to work directly with vendors, engineers, and operations personnel during critical project activities.
Pay: $65.00 - $75.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
