Senior Palo Alto DLP & Cloud Security Engineer

US Based Position. Must be US Citizen.

Position Summary

Advance and operate Palo Alto DLP and cloud/proxy security capabilities, integrate inspection and enforcement into the IRS DLP architecture, and ensure reliable policy enforcement, testing, resilience, and technical documentation.

Experience Level

8+ years in network/cloud security engineering with 4+ years of Palo Alto Networks engineering and strong recent Enterprise DLP / Prisma / proxy-security experience.

Key Responsibilities

Create, modify, test, deploy, and maintain Palo Alto DLP data profiles, policies, data patterns, identifiers, regex, dictionaries, file rules, matching criteria, actions, exceptions, allow lists, trusted destinations/apps, and rule priority/order.

Support web DLP and Government-authorized email/cloud DLP integration and coordinate proxy/SSL inspection requirements.

Analyze incidents, tune policies, validate detection and enforcement, support event responders, and document trends/corrective actions.

Support forensic metadata and file-transfer analysis where authorized and required.

Align PII/FTI and other sensitive-data classification with Symantec and Microsoft Purview controls.

Engineer resilient cloud/security integration, test through controlled non-production environments, and support production readiness and rollback.

Produce dashboards/KPIs, SOPs, runbooks, architecture/configuration guides, change records, test results, and Government training materials.

Evaluate authorized adjacent technologies such as Prisma Cloud, Zscaler, XSIAM, CASB, and other approved platforms only as directed.

Required / Critical Skills

Palo Alto Networks Enterprise DLP; PAN-OS / Prisma Access or relevant cloud security; data filtering/profiles; proxy and SSL decryption/inspection; cloud security architecture; Zero Trust; policy enforcement.

Regex/dictionaries/data identifiers; incident analysis; network/web/email data flows; API/integration skills; high availability and operational troubleshooting.

Familiarity with Splunk, Purview, Symantec DLP, ServiceNow, and federal security controls.

Palo Alto PCNSE/PCNSA or relevant Palo Alto cloud/security certification strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on deployment of Palo Alto Enterprise DLP in a large regulated enterprise.

Federal Zero Trust / cloud-security implementation experience.

Current Public Trust/MBI or clearance.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent directly relevant experience and advanced industry certifications may be considered, subject to the applicable contract labor-category requirements.

Federal Suitability / Security

Candidate must be able to meet IRS personnel-security and suitability requirements for the position, including the applicable background investigation and required security/privacy training. A current favorably adjudicated federal Public Trust/MBI or other investigation that may qualify for reciprocity is highly desirable.

Recent enterprise production experience supporting sensitive or regulated information.

Ability to explain specific examples of troubleshooting, policy/rule tuning, testing, incident support, measurable improvement, and documentation.

Federal customer experience and demonstrated ability to work within controlled access, change, audit, and documentation processes.

Ability to become productive quickly and communicate effectively with both engineers and Government stakeholders.
