Senior Data Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to serve as a hands-on technical contributor responsible for designing, building, and supporting Symmetry Lending’s enterprise data platform. This role blends deep data engineering expertise with strong data architecture skills, spanning enterprise data warehousing, reporting, and modern cloud data platform development. To be successful in this position, the individual must be technology savvy, self-motivated, collaborative, and business focused, with the ability to partner across technical and business teams and translate business needs into reliable, high-quality data solutions.

The Senior Data Engineer will deliver immediate impact developing data pipelines, data models, and operational and analytical reporting within a SQL Server-based data warehouse environment and will play a central role in designing and building modern cloud data capabilities, including cloud data warehousing, ELT pipelines, and layered data architectures.

The successful candidate is equally fluent across the Microsoft data stack (T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS) and the modern cloud data stack, including platforms such as Snowflake, ELT frameworks such as dbt, Python, and major cloud providers (e.g., Azure, AWS). Experience working in financial services or lending environments is highly desirable due to regulatory and data governance requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Engineering & Pipeline Development

• Design, build, and optimize secure, scalable batch and near real-time data pipelines supporting structured and semi-structured data (e.g., JSON, Parquet).
• Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes using SSIS, stored procedures, Python, and cloud-based ETL/ELT tools and orchestration frameworks.
• Write, tune, and review complex SQL, and provide hands-on expertise in database performance tuning, pipeline optimization, and production troubleshooting.
