Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Cloud Engineer specializing in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to lead the design, deployment, and management of scalable cloud infrastructure solutions. In this dynamic role, you will leverage your expertise in cloud architecture, automation, and distributed systems to optimize our cloud services and ensure robust, secure, and efficient operations. Your innovative approach will drive the evolution of our cloud environment, supporting business growth and technological advancement across diverse platforms and services.

Duties

  • Design, implement, and optimize cloud infrastructure solutions using Google Cloud Platform and other public cloud services such as AWS, Azure, and Rackspace.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation to automate deployment processes.
  • Manage complex cloud environments including Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), Virtual Machines (VMs), containers with Kubernetes and Docker, and serverless architectures.
  • Integrate and manage cloud services such as SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, NoSQL databases like MongoDB or DynamoDB, and relational databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Implement security best practices by configuring identity and access management (IAM) solutions, system hardening techniques, VPNs, and network security measures.
  • Collaborate with development teams to facilitate DevOps automation through scripting in Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ruby, JavaScript, Go, or other languages.
  • Monitor system performance and scalability; troubleshoot issues related to distributed systems or virtualization platforms like VMware or OpenStack; ensure high availability of critical applications.
  • Lead efforts in automating deployment pipelines using Jenkins, Git, CI/CD workflows to streamline software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Support the integration of RESTful APIs and web services to enhance application development and cloud service interoperability.

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing IT infrastructure within public cloud environments such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, Azure or Rackspace.
  • Strong understanding of service-oriented architecture (SOA), microservices architecture, container orchestration with Kubernetes or Docker Swarm.
  • Extensive knowledge of virtualization technologies including VMware, OpenStack; experience with virtualized environments is essential.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash (Unix shell), PowerShell; experience with automation tools like Ansible or Puppet is highly desirable.
  • Deep familiarity with cloud management platforms including Terraform or CloudFormation for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Solid background in designing scalable systems using concepts like load balancing, auto-scaling groups, NoSQL databases (MongoDB or DynamoDB), SQL databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
  • Experience implementing security protocols such as IAM solutions; knowledge of system hardening practices for Linux/Windows operating systems.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and web services integration; experience with SaaS applications is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; relevant certifications such as Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or AWS Certified Solutions Architect are preferred.

Pay: $55.00 - $75.00 per hour
