Position Summary

The IT Security Engineer is the entry point into the Client (Large Publicaly Traded Corp) Information Security career path. This role executes the day-to-day operational tasks that keep the company’s security controls running: administering security tooling, triaging alerts escalated by the managed security service provider (MSSP), supporting vulnerability remediation, and maintaining accurate records of security configurations and exceptions.

Client operates a managed security services delivery model. The IT Security Engineer works alongside outsourced delivery partners rather than in place of them and is expected to develop the technical judgment required to validate vendor work rather than simply accept it. This is a hands-on, learning-forward role with defined supervision and a structured development path toward IT Security Analyst.

Job Responsibilities

Security Operations

• Perform assigned daily operational tasks across the security toolset, including endpoint protection, email security, web/cloud access security, and identity platforms.
• Triage alerts and service requests routed from the MSSP and the IT service desk; resolve routine items and escalate complex or ambiguous cases to the IT Security Manager.
• Monitor security platform health and report tool outages, agent coverage gaps, and failed policy deployments.
• Support user access reviews, account provisioning exceptions, and multi-factor authentication enrollment issues under established procedures.
