Job Description
About BiggerPockets
BiggerPockets is the largest real estate investing platform and community, helping millions of people build wealth through real estate. Alongside our tools, courses, books, and forums, we produce a network of shows including the BiggerPockets Real Estate Podcast, Real Estate Rookie, On The Market, BiggerPockets Money, and BiggerPockets Daily — reaching investors at every stage, from first deal to full portfolio.
The Role
BiggerPockets is hiring an Editorial Director to lead content strategy across newsletters, podcasts, resources, blog, and social media. This is a strategy-led, people-management role for an operator who knows what great editorial looks like. We want someone who can help turn content into a stronger audience-growth engine.
The editorial content strategy will prioritize differentiated work: original research, community research, and useful rookie resources, not commoditized real-estate explainers. We have a large existing ad-supported podcast and newsletter network, but it needs a fresh injection of creativity and strategy so we're set up for success in the long run.
This role also owns a forward-looking question: what's the next format that lets us reach more people and deliver value they'll pay directly for? That could mean a cohort-based course, a Masterclass- or Skool-style paid program, premium workshops, or something we haven't tried yet — this role is expected to have a real point of view on it, build the business case, and help stand up whatever we pursue. We'll also be expanding regional events in 2027, so experience with event marketing and programming is a plus.
This content has to work for two audiences at once. It needs to be good enough that everyday real estate investors choose to spend their time with it — that's what earns the reach in the first place. And it needs to consistently meet, and ideally exceed, the standards of the advertising and sponsorship partners who are trusting BiggerPockets with their dollars to grow both our brand and theirs. Those two bars aren't in conflict, but holding both of them at once — genuinely valuable consumer content and dependable, professional partner execution — is a core part of what makes this role work.
What You'll Do
- Set the editorial vision and content strategy across newsletters, podcasts, social media, and content marketing.
- Lead and develop the editorial team.
- Establish clear quality standards, editorial processes, and priorities across employees, contributors, and contractors.
- Create original research and community-research programs that leverage BiggerPockets' audience and can support advertiser partnerships.
- Build content and resource strategies that support audience growth, membership, marketplace, and organic discovery.
- Identify and build the case for new, monetizable formats beyond advertising — cohort-based courses, paid masterclasses or Skool-style communities, premium workshops, or other emerging models — and help launch the ones worth pursuing.
- Collaborate with the marketing team on content opportunities, amplification, distribution, and new member entry paths.
- Represent BiggerPockets at events and contribute to storytelling as needed.
- Partner on sponsored-content opportunities while maintaining editorial quality and audience trust.
- Ensure sold sponsorships, ad integrations, and branded content are fulfilled to spec and to a standard that exceeds partner expectations — editorial follow-through is what protects renewals and expansion revenue.
- Partner with the sales team to sharpen what and how they sell — providing the content proof points, audience insights, and editorial credibility that make their pitches stronger and their commitments realistic to deliver on.
- Support the evolving events strategy; experience with regional or live events is a plus.
What We're Looking For
- An editorial leader with strong strategic judgment and hands-on operating experience.
- Background in traditional media, digital publishing, or a comparable audience-led content business.
- Deep familiarity with real estate, investing, or an adjacent consumer-finance category.
- Strong podcast, newsletter, social, and content-marketing instincts.
- Experience managing contributors, contractors, and internal creative teams.
- A point of view on new ways to monetize an engaged audience — direct-to-consumer education, paid communities, cohort courses, or similar — and the instinct to know which ideas are worth a real bet.
- Comfortable on camera and in front of event audiences; able to translate editorial expertise into compelling video and social content.
- Able to partner effectively with marketing, sales, and events teams — including helping sales sharpen what they pitch and ensuring what gets sold is delivered at a standard partners trust.
- Comfortable holding two bars at once: content genuinely valuable to a consumer audience, and execution that meets the brand-safety and delivery standards B2B advertising and sponsorship partners require.
- Experience with event programming or event marketing is a meaningful plus.
What Success Looks Like
- A clear editorial strategy and operating cadence across content channels.
- More differentiated, ownable content rooted in original research, community insight, and practical resources.
- A stronger editorial team with defined standards, priorities, and accountability.
- Content that contributes to audience growth while supporting BiggerPockets' broader marketing goals.
- Advertising and sponsorship partners consistently feel their campaigns were delivered well — and the sales team has stronger, more credible pitches to sell with.
- A validated point of view — and early traction — on at least one new, directly monetizable content format.
