Location: Remote (Must live within 30 mins of a major metropolitan airport)

The Arthritis National Research Foundation (ANRF) mission is to provide initial research funding to brilliant, investigative scientists with new ideas to cure arthritis and related autoimmune diseases. Since 1970, the Arthritis National Research Foundation has funded arthritis research to understand the causes, prevention and development of new treatments for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, juvenile arthritis and other autoimmune diseases. The Arthritis National Research Foundation provides arthritis research grants to scientists at major universities and research institutes across America. These research grants allow newer scientists to develop their important research to a stage where it can be continued and further supported by other national agencies.

Position

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Director of Corporate Relations will apply their development skills, scientific knowledge, and familiarity with the pharmaceutical/biotech industry to identify, develop, and maintain relationships with key industry organizations and leaders in support of the ANRF mission. This individual will be responsible for conceptualizing and managing new strategic alliances and will be an innovative strategist to maximize and secure industry support, while creatively and meaningfully engaging industry clients in a long-term, synergistic partnership with ANRF. The Director designs and implements strategies to drive corporate funding support through memberships, and sponsorships to achieve the revenue goal as defined in the strategic plan, increasing annual revenue to $5M by FY27. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial style that can sell the value of a partnership with the ANRF.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, preparing, securing and selling new, renewed and expanded brand partnerships that raise significant revenue and strengthen the ANRF’s programs and research.
  • Oversee all aspects of corporate fundraising events and programs, including prospecting, proposal development, execution of benefits, stewardship, and reporting.
  • Drafts and submits proposals (via online portals and email requests) to potential funders and utilize database to track progress
  • Maintain regularly updated list of corporate funding opportunities.
  • Produce monthly reports and provide ongoing analysis of corporate engagement across the organization.
  • Establish and achieve goals for renewal and new revenue that align with organizational strategy.
  • Build and organize curated prospectuses, and sponsorship templates for corporate funding opportunities that align with the Foundation’s strategic priorities and deliver a compelling value proposition to prospective corporate supporters.
  • Innovate and evolve programs and identify new funding opportunities.
  • Oversee fulfillment of assets and impact reports for partners.
  • Refine and update corporate relations policies and procedures related to corporate sponsors, advertising and sales and stay informed on all relevant legal, compliance and policy issues.
  • Connect with national partners frequently for ongoing communication and impact sharing.
  • Oversee details for annual Corporate Roundtable.
  • Help manage organizational presence at corporate meetings during major medical/research meetings including preparing schedule and company background briefs for each meeting
  • Research new companies, both pharmaceutical and private corporations, to grow the corporate portfolio and tracks actions in database
  • Maintain an excellent relationship with various industry partners, mapping out all relevant funding channels and contacts for each account.
  • Provide high-quality, timely development and input to client solutions for the pharmaceutical, biotech, and related industries.
  • Document follow-up communications related to each proposal initiative for specific donors/prospects in shared files and database, which are accessible for other Foundation staff members to inform related strategies and interaction with prospects.
  • Schedule and lead introductory calls with new potential corporate partners.
  • Travel locally and nationally on a regular basis, often to attend leading scientific meetings and to engage industry clients in productive, face-to-face visits

Specific responsibilities include

  • Establish and achieve goals for renewal and new revenue that align with organizational strategy.
  • Prepare for and attend Board of Director meetings, presenting on corporate initiatives and outcomes.
  • Serve on internal committees and cross-functional work teams as appropriate.
  • Accurately forecast development revenue on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Develop and manage departmental budget and all finance and accounting matters for the department.

Skills and Requirements

:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing business or related field; fund development experience in non-profit health organizations is preferred.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in aggressive strategic growth of national corporate partnerships with a focus on: Pharmaceutical partnerships, patient education, national sponsorships, branding sponsorships, and customized client solutions that generate significant income.
  • Utilizes business development skills and expertise to establish new, and strengthen, existing revenue-generating corporate partnerships in support of ANRF meetings, conferences, grants, awards, patient advocacy programs, and other key priorities.
  • Remain abreast of rheumatology market trends for U.S. and global markets, particularly as they impact clients.
  • Work thoroughly, quickly, and efficiently, and is mindful of deadlines and the high volume of requests demanding timely completion.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills, with experience creating development-focused materials such as impact reports, donor correspondence, grant proposals and other materials.
  • Ability to work in an entrepreneurial fashion where change is the norm and rapid decision making is required.
  • Ability to be a strategic thinker and work with others in a collaborative or advisory role.
  • Performs the essential functions of the position and other tasks as may be assigned and required.
  • This is a sales position with revenue goal that must be achieved.

  • Tech savvy, proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and project management platforms.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with all types of staff, including remote colleagues.

  • Ability to travel, including ~15% overnight travel.

Additional Information

  • Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this position is $120,000-$130,000
