PURPOSE OF JOB
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Business Development, the Director of Business Development will identify, evaluate, negotiate, execute, and manage strategic transactions that advance Route 92 Medical's portfolio and growth objectives. The role will lead the full transaction lifecycle across licensing, co-development, co-marketing, and distribution relationships and will lead or support asset acquisitions and other strategic opportunities. The successful candidate will bring extensive medical-device experience, strong commercial and financial judgment, and a record of moving complex opportunities from initial sourcing through diligence, agreement execution, transition, and ongoing governance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with the Senior Vice President of Business Development and other executive leaders to set business-development priorities aligned with Route 92 Medical's corporate, portfolio, and commercial strategy.
- Proactively identify and source opportunities involving technologies, products, assets, companies, and commercial partnerships that can expand the company's portfolio and reach.
- Lead the strategic, market, competitive, clinical, technical, and financial assessment of potential opportunities.
- Own the transaction process from partner outreach and confidentiality agreements through business-case development, due diligence, valuation, deal structure, negotiation, approval, signing, and close.
- Negotiate and execute licensing, co-development, co-marketing, and distribution agreements; lead or support asset acquisitions and other strategic transactions as appropriate.
- Direct cross-functional diligence and decision-making with R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Commercial, Operations, Finance, and Legal/IP.
- Prepare clear recommendations for executive leadership that explain strategic rationale, economics, key terms, risks, alternatives, and implementation requirements.
- Build trusted relationships with potential partners, acquisition targets, distributors, advisers, clinicians, and other industry stakeholders.
- Establish post-signing governance, transition, integration, and launch plans; track commitments, performance, and issues throughout each relationship.
- Monitor the medical-device market, competitive activity, emerging technologies, and transaction trends to inform strategy and opportunity development.
- Maintain a disciplined opportunity pipeline and provide timely, accurate updates to leadership.
- Represent Route 92 Medical at partner meetings, diligence sessions, negotiations, industry conferences, and other external forums.

- Exceptional negotiation and relationship-management skills, with the ability to secure strong terms while building durable partnerships.
- Strategic and commercial judgment, including the ability to turn clinical, technical, market, and competitive information into practical deal recommendations.
- Strong financial and analytical skills, including valuation, business-case development, scenario analysis, and deal economics.
- Clear executive communication and presentation skills; able to explain complex opportunities and decisions concisely.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders without direct authority.
- Sound judgment, integrity, discretion, and attention to detail when handling confidential and time-sensitive matters.
- Ability to manage several complex opportunities at once and maintain momentum in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
* Bachelor's degree in business, life sciences, engineering, finance, or a related field.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in the medical-device industry, with substantial experience in business development, corporate development, strategic partnerships, or a closely related role.
- Demonstrated record of personally leading complex medical-device transactions from sourcing and evaluation through negotiation, execution, and ongoing relationship management.
- Direct experience negotiating and executing licensing, co-development, co-marketing, and distribution agreements.
- Experience leading cross-functional due diligence, valuation, deal structuring, executive approvals, and partnership governance.
- Strong working knowledge of medical-device product development, clinical and regulatory pathways, commercialization, and market dynamics.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience evaluating, negotiating, or executing asset acquisitions, product-line acquisitions, or other corporate-development transactions.
- Experience in neurovascular, interventional, cardiovascular, or another relevant medical-device market.
- Experience with international licensing, distribution, or market-expansion partnerships.
- MBA, JD, or advanced scientific or engineering degree.
