DevOps Engineer - AWS CICD Terraform Python K8S

We have been retained by our client in Houston to deliver a Senior DevOps Engineer on a contract basis earning above $100 per hour on w-2 . Become part of an advanced devops & platforms team, all working together onsite central Houston . Design, automate, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon cloud, CI/CD pipeline design, build, deploy, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and Python , and cloud-native DevOps practices.

You will work closely with software engineering, security, and operations teams to improve deployment automation, infrastructure reliability, system observability, and engineering productivity. A key responsibility is the Kubernetes (K8S) automation of integrations for compliance and the compliance software tool and setting up the integrations into the CI / CD pipelines on AWS.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and highly available infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS) .
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, security scanning, and application deployment.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform , including reusable modules and environment-specific configurations.
• Automate operational processes and infrastructure tasks using Python and scripting.
• Manage AWS services such as EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, Lambda, RDS, ECS/EKS, CloudWatch, and Route 53 .
• Develop deployment strategies supporting development, test, staging, and production environments.
• Implement infrastructure and application monitoring, logging, alerting, and troubleshooting solutions.
• Apply cloud security best practices, including IAM, secrets management, encryption, network security, and least-privilege access.
• Manage source control and branching strategies using Git .
• Collaborate with developers to improve application deployment processes and developer experience.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, IaS, deployments, networking, and production issues.
• Establish and maintain disaster recovery, backup, scalability, and high-availability practices.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve automation, reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.
• Participate in on-call and production support activities as required.

Required Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or IaC with Terraform or AWS Cloudformation
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS .
• Strong experience developing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or AWS CodePipeline
• Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Proficiency in Python for automation and tooling.
• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with Git and modern software development workflows.
• Understanding of networking concepts including VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, load balancers, and DNS.
• Experience with container technologies such as Docker .
• Familiarity with Kubernetes (K8S) , Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) is highly desirable.
• Experience with cloud monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana (ELK) stack / OpenSearch .
• Understanding of DevOps, Agile, and CI/CD principles.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional or AWS Solutions Architect .
• Experience designing and implementing AWS environments using Terraform.
• Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Experience implementing DevSecOps practices within CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with security scanning tools such as Snyk, Trivy, SonarQube, or Checkov.
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible.
• Experience with serverless architectures and AWS Lambda.
• Knowledge of Python-based APIs and automation frameworks.
• Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code standards across multiple environments.

Familiarity with GitOps tools and practices. *
