Position Summary Provides advanced data science, machine learning, evaluation, and analytics support for AI-enabled digital health initiatives. Develops analytical methods and models that support feasibility assessment, product testing, pilot evaluation, decision support, performance monitoring, and scaling decisions. Key Responsibilities* Acquire, prepare, validate, and analyze structured and unstructured healthcare data in approved cloud or enterprise analytic environments. * Develop supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement-learning, and statistical models appropriate to healthcare and operational use cases. * Develop and analyze synthetic data models and patient cohorts while documenting assumptions, limitations, and validation methods. * Translate business, clinical, operational, and product questions into testable hypotheses, analytical plans, and decision-support requirements. * Develop model features, training pipelines, validation protocols, performance measures, and monitoring approaches. * Assess model accuracy, generalizability, scalability, bias, robustness, usability, and operational feasibility. * Support requirements development and implementation for decision-support tools and Digital Health Pipeline dashboards. * Analyze clinical, operational, financial, implementation, and user-feedback data for pilots and completed projects. * Create reproducible code, data dictionaries, technical documentation, visualizations, evaluation reports, and executive-ready findings. * Collaborate with AI strategists, program managers, analysts, clinicians, product owners, security personnel, and VA stakeholders. * Protect PHI, PII, and VA-sensitive information and comply with applicable data-use, privacy, and security controls.

Location Information

This position is remote. However, the Data Scientist, Senior will be required to travel during the performance of this contract to attend meetings, conferences, and training. They may be required to travel to off-site training locations and to ship training aids to these locations.
